No Pic for Raymond Chungala
Raymond has painted some important country to the north of his home community of Billiluna. This country is called Karntibalarn, or Wolfe Creek Crater. The centre of the place depicts the crater itself, while the two heavy lines show the path of the star which fell out of the sky. The Aboriginal story for this place tells of an ancestral animal, Karntibalarn, (a marsupial now extinct) that had its burrow here. On either side of the crater, people of the Walmajarri and Tjaru nations are camping, being the co-owners and custodians for this area.

USD $1500.00
Raymond painted country north of Balgo Hills in the early 2000s. Wolfe Creek Crater was formed by a giant meteorite that crashed into the earth 300,000 years ago. The 50,000 ton meteorite impacted with a speed of 15 km a second, leaving the second biggest crater in the world, 880 meters across. This is the country of the ancestral animal, Karntibalarn.
