Graham Gordon
Erica Gallagher, Warmun Arts, Turkey Creek, WA, picture pending
Picture of Graham Gordon
Graham has painted the country of his grandfather, the legendary painter and community leader, Tjumpo Tjapanangka. This country is located south of Balgo in the Great Sandy Desert and centred around the vast salt lake named Wilkinkarra (Lake McKay). The country here is dominated by tali (sandhills) while the central circles represent tjurrnu (soakwaters). Graham says that this painting represents dingo dreaming.

USD $3000
Graham is the grandson of the late legendary Balgo painter and senior community leader, Tjumpo Tjapanangka. He is a young and highly talented artist who began painting for Papunya Tula Artists. He has family and connections in Kintore and Kiwirrkurra and travels extensively between these communities. Graham's art is influenced by examples of the old Pintupi artists who use a very restricted color palette in depicting their traditional stories. One of Graham's paintings was selected by the Austrlian Government for an international postage stamp in 2003. A highly collectible artist.
