Picture of Imelda Yukenbarri
A truly extraordinary painting. Imelda has depicted her mother's country south of Balgo, in the Great Sandy Desert. This country here is named Winpurpurla after a tjurrnu (soakwater). Winpurpurla is an inta (Living water) place so it always has good water. Women travel to Winpurpurla to collect a variety of seeds including Iukarrai which is ground to make damper as well as kumpapatja (bush tomato) and karnti (bush potato). Imelda is the first child born to Helicopter Tjungurrayi and Lucy Yukenbarri.

Winpurpurla was featured as Gallery Sydney-East's 2007 Christmas card.

USD $4000
The daughter of painter Lucy Napanaka Yukenbarri, Imelda (Guguman) Yukenbarri inherited her late mother's extraordinary painting talents. As a newly emerging aritist painting out of the Warlayirti Arts Center in Balgo Hills, WA, Imelda is establishing a distinguished reputation for her shimmering fields of color and subtle contrasts to represent country where she grew up and where she now lives.
