Before purchasing Australian Aboriginal art, Gallery Sydney-East recommends you visit the websites for two organizations formed for the sole purpose of supporting Aboriginal artists and their art centers across Australia. These two organizations are ANKAAA, the Association of Northern, Kimberley, Arnhem Aboriginal Artists and DESART, the Association of Central Australian Aboriginal Art and Craft Centers. These two advocacy groups are comprised of community-based enterprises (art centers) representing the interests of Aboriginal artists throughout much of Australia. ANKAAA's and DESART's websites will provide you with direct links to the art centers they represent.

Art centers are owned and controlled by Aboriginal communities. They are managed by professional, caring directors committed to ethical practices and they represent the best interests of the artists. In many parts of Australia, the community art center represents the central economic basis for employment and work.
You will be amazed at the variety of art that is represented within the various communities operating in affiliation with ANKAAA and DESART. Gallery Sydney-East suppports the sale of Aboriginal art through the art centers affiliated with ANKAAA and DESART. We have direct contact with the art centers and we communicate by telephone with art center directors on a regular basis. If you find a particular community or artist that is particularly appealing to you, Gallery Sydney-East will be pleased to contact the respective art center director to request specific images for your review or arrange for the forwarding of pieces for consideration.
Your support for purhcasing art products from any of the communities affiliated with ANKAAA and DESART provides a direct benefit to the artist, his or her family and community, and furthers the goal of improving the lives of some of the most remarkable and visionary people on earth.
